William J. Koontz and Associates has practiced personal injury law in the Southern California area since 1975. These regulations are designed to protect automobile drivers and pedestrians from injury. In many cases a large truck or ‘big rig’ may be assessed damages where an automobile operator would not

    Contrary to the implication by many lawyers, motorcycle riders are by and large subject to the same rules of the road as drivers of automobiles. However, given the lack of protection to the motorcycle rider their injuries are often far more serious than the occupants of motor vehicles 

  • Victims of accidents caused by drinking drivers
    Victims of accidents caused by drinking drivers, in addition to the damages all victims of negligence are entitled to, are often entitled to punitive damages or damages to punish This exposure often subjects the drinking driver and his insurance carrier to far greater monetary awards than the sober driver.

  • Construction Site Accidents
    Workers on construction sites are not necessarily limited to workers compensation. Where an injury is caused by a person or entity other than the worker’s direct employer, that person or entity can be held liable in a civil lawsuit. For example; where an employee of the framing contractor is injured by the negligence of the concrete contractor, the concrete can be held civilly liable for the injury caused

  • Dangerous Premises
    One who knows or should know of a dangerous condition on his or her premises which leads to injury of a third person, may be liable to the third person for the injury caused. Such claims are not limited to commercial premises but apply to privately and publicly owned premises as well.

  • Spinal Injury
    Spinal injuries can include, but are not limited to, severance of the cord and paralysis to nerve compression causing pain, numbness or lack of control over  victims limbs or bodily functions    

  • Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
    TBI does not necessarily require a direct impact to the head, it can be caused by angular and lateral acceleration as well. Damage to the brain need not appear dramatic or obvious but can be subtle requiring sophisticated testing to ferret out specific deficits. There is often significant spontaneous recovery in the first eighteen months resulting in delayed diagnoses
